its been a little while since i've last posted, so i'll fill you in on life lately. :) may has been BUSY! i photographed a wedding on hatteras island last weekend for an awesome couple! it was so beautiful - they rented a big house on the sound side of the island & held the ceremony right on the water. i have soooo many pictures that its going to take me a few weeks to get through them all in between everything else i'm busy with in life. there is a sneak peak from the wedding on my photo blog if you'd like to check it out. anyway, my mom and rivers traveled with me last weekend and they seemed to enjoy themselves on the beach while i was off shooting. that was only rivers 2nd time at the beach and he enjoyed playing in the sand & walking on the pier. he wasn't too crazy about the big ocean though! which really was good, because we didn't have to worry about keeping him away from it!
so we came back to town on sunday - and its been back to work for me this week. rivers came down with an ear infection on tuesday. he woke up early, cranky, and had a runny nose. classic ear infection symptoms, so i called the doctor first thing that morning, they fit us in right away (there were no other sick kids waiting, yay!), gave us a presciption and off we went. but not without rivers crying hysterically the whole time! i guess he remembered the last time he was there he got a flu shot, which was not fun. so here we are, 2 days later and he's already sooo much better! i'm so glad too, hate to see my baby not feeling well!
in other news, jasper had a horrible day at the groomers yesterday. 8.5 hours of torture for my poor pooch! are you ready for this one? i dropped him off at 8:30 am for his appointment. being that he is scared to be groomed i asked that they call as soon as they were done so my mom could pick him up - its best for him to get in & get out. she went in to the salon at 3 pm to check on him because they still hadn't called. they said he wasn't done yet - they would call when he's ready. they did not say that they were having a problem with him - just that he wasn't done. they close at 5 pm, so i left work a little early to go pick him up. when i walked in they had my terrified, trembling dog on a leash, chasing him around the store (trying to get him on the table so they could finish). i asked what had happened - his appt was 8.5 hours ago! they explained that they had overbooked and that he wasn't co-operating. first of all, he had an appointment which i had made weeks prior (they shouldn't have overbooked, or should have called to reschedule). second, he's scared as it is to be there. to prolong the day & leave him sit there (without taking him out to relieve himself) is not going to calm him down - only upset him more! third, why was i not called or made aware of him being difficult?? they didn't say anything to my mom when she came in at 3 and they had both her number as well as mine they could have called. there was no way jasper was going to let them finish his haircut by this point. rather than acknowledging this and offering to finish another day, they insisted they finish then. i had to say more than once, that i didn't want them finishing and i wanted to take my dog home. they charged me $25 for a bad back & belly shave (didn't touch his head or paws) and were not apologetic at all. he was pooping as we were walking out the door - poor thing hadn't been taken out all day! my dog is 9 years old and in the 9 years of having him groomed (at other groomers) i have never experienced anything like this. needless to say, we won't be back! so poor jasper is now traumatized - i'm sure next trip to a new groomer is going to be horrible!! and he has a furry head of hair and looks a mess! seriously people, whatever happened to common sense and good customer service?! anyway, if anyone in the greenville/winterville area is reading this - don't take your pet to "designer pet pooch salon" on main street in winterville.
so next up, we're making the long drive up to pittsburgh this weekend. not looking forward to it at all. not that i don't want to come visit - its just that driving with a 2 year old for 9 hours sucks big time! jeremy is staying home with jasper so it will just be me, rivs, and my mom. luckily its not just me & rivs! driving to the beach last weekend was bad enough! we're splitting up the drive, which is good in that we'll do a lot of driving at night - hoping rivers will sleep. but on the other hand, it puts us driving every day of our trip. certainly doesn't make for a relaxing visit. but anyway, i'm sure everyone will be glad to see rivers and will swoon over him - its hard not to, he's so smart & cute! ;) i've got lots of pics i need to get up here, but have no idea when i'll get around to it. hopefully before too long!
