jeremy posted a comment under my last blog post under the name, "Dada, Stop!"  which is pretty darn funny with some background info for all of you.  rivers has a couple of new favorite phrases. the first of which is, "stop it!" and sometimes he'll proceed to tell you "annoying!"  yes, i have created a little monster and i'm not sure what to do. i'm almost positive he learned this from me. totally something that would come out of my mouth when talking to jeremy, jasper, or the cats. (and yes, i'm blushing - bad mama!)  rivers is all about telling everyone to "stop it!" last week i was singing in the car and rivers is yelling at me to "stop it!" my mom brought an outfit out yesterday morning to change him into and he told her to "stop it!" the worst part is, its pretty darn funny when he says it & many times i laugh. (i know, i know - soooo bad) but i mean really?! an almost 2 year old yelling at me to stop singing (trust me, i don't sing well) is hilarious! of course there are plenty of times that's its not funny & will potentially cause problems for him in the future. this just proves that its not only curse words i need to watch, but also little phrases that i normally wouldn't think twice about. he really is becoming a 2 year old and i don't know how to handle it. anyone have any good parenting books or websites they can recommend?? i'm afraid we're heading into rocky territory... man, i miss the days of him being a smiley little 6 month old who couldn't talk.  :)

i'm a little behind, once again, on my pics of rivers. these are from easter - so a couple months old now. in fact, i realized that his little baby curls in the back were still there in these pics! here he is first of all with his easter loot. and yes, that is a lollipop in his hand - first thing in the morning. i couldn't believe jeremy unwrapped it and handed it to him. luckily, he's not one for sweets. he took a couple licks and was done.

more interested in a new book than he was the lollipop.

dressed and ready to go hunt for eggs! he had no clue what an egg hunt even was or what we were doing, but i got a kick out of it!

then on to the fun stuff - playing in the sand!!

rivers went through a phase of putting his head on the ground to then say, "bonk!"

hope everyone had a great weekend!! back to the daily grind tomorrow...

for those of you who are friends on facebook, you heard about rivers being sick this past weekend. it was a rough one. poor rivers has never been sick before other than ear infections, which are easily treated & generally don't give him much trouble other than a runny nose & sore ear. this weekend was a whole new experience for all of us. it started friday night before he went to bed - i noticed he felt warm, but had been acting fine all day, so i gave him some tylenol & he went right to sleep. the next morning he was still warm, so i called the doctor just to be on the safe side (it was friday & we had a long weekend ahead where the doctor's office would be closed on monday). i took him into the doctor & he said its most likely a virus, which we can't do anything about. the only thing i could do was give him tylenol to help his fever & hopefully keep him comfortable. as the day progressed, he began to develop a rash, which gradually got worse. saturday morning he was up from 3-5am and then up for good at 6:30. my poor baby was so uncomfortable & feeling so bad. his rash looked horrible & i couldn't really do anything about it. we did give him oatmeal baths, but even that was a struggle - bath time is not normally a struggle! anyway, here are some pictures i snapped of him on saturday when the rash was at its worst.

good news is, he woke up sunday feeling much better. the fever was gone & while the rash was still there, it had gone down considerably! even today, you can still see the rash, but it doesn't look anything like it did saturday and it doesn't bother him at all - thank goodness!!
